Russia will host a weak team, Cyprus in the Euro qualification. On paper, Russia should be able to win this fight easily.
Russia had lost 1-3 in their first match in this Group I Qualifying Euro from Belgium. However, Russia was able to immediately rise by finishing off Kazakhstan with a score of 4-0 and San Marino with a score of 9-0. With a score of 6 points, Russia sits second in the standings, 3 points adrift of Belgium at the top of the standings and ahead on goal difference from Scotland in third place.
Cyprus, on the other hand, took the lead by eliminating San Marino with a score of 5-0 in their first match, Cyprus suffered defeat in two matches thereafter, each 0-2 against Belgium and 1-2 from Scotland. As a result, Cyprus had to settle for sitting in 4th place with a collection of 3 points.
Playing at home, Russia clearly does not want to lose points. The victory will be an absolute target for Russia to continue to maintain competition to Euro 2020. Russia is indeed the leading team in this Group I but if it is not consistent then the move to the Euro will be difficult to materialize.
