Greece vs Armenia
Greece will return to the role of host of the midweek after yesterday’s weekend took on the same role. This time they received an easier task, facing Armenia at the Athens Olympic Stadium on match day 3 in Group J.
Sunday (9/6) yesterday Greece appeared to face Italy, and must recognize the advantage of the visitors with a score of 0-3 all of which were printed in the first round. Gli Azzurri is indeed dominating with 10 shots on the target of 70% possession, while Greece only replies 2 times. As a result, Greece dropped to position 3 with 4 points.
Meanwhile, Armenia won the victory as well as their first points after the previous day held a goal party against Liechtenstein. They were already two goals ahead in the first half which was fulfilled by an additional Tigran Barseghyan goal in second half injury time. Thanks to that victory, Armenia climbed to position 5 with 3 points.
Of course Armenia will try to maintain this momentum. Tomorrow is the second away game after the opening game gave up 2-1 as a guest of Bosnia & Herzegovina. On the other hand, last weekend’s match was the first home task for Greece, and of course they wanted to win to cover yesterday’s mistake.
Greece does have to move to chase Italy at the top of the standings which has perfect points so far, while opening up opportunities to shift Finland as runner-up who posted 6 points. The last clash against Armenia occurred in the 2012 trial with a 1-0 victory.
