George Weah, a player president: what action he took in the fight with the coronavirus

Former AC Milan striker George Weah became President of Liberia three years ago. Now, he is doing his best to defend his country from the danger called coronavirus. In the African state, only three coronavirus cases have been registered so far. The first of the contaminated people was even a politician who attended a conference in Europe. He initially refused admission, and President George Weah suspended him from office.

“He has put public health in danger, and for that he will have to answer before the law!”, The Liberian president said in a statement.

George Weah, drastic measures against coronavirus

Liberia has faced a much worse epidemic in the past: between 2014 and 2015, the country was paralyzed by the Ebola virus. Now, to prevent the spread of coronavirus, George Weah has taken urgent action. He canceled flights from countries with more than 200 confirmed cases, temporarily closed schools and churches, banned public gatherings and asked people to stay in their own homes for as long as possible. Currently, there are only three confirmed cases of coronavirus in Liberia.

George Weah, musical message for the citizens of Liberia

George Weah did not stop taking emergency measures, but he also composed a song against the coronavirus. The President of Liberia has his own studio, where he works with several local musicians. “Together we fight against the coronavirus” is the title of the song by which George Weah asks Liberian citizens to take all precautionary measures. “It could be your mother, it could be your father, brothers or sisters. Let’s be together and fight this filthy disease. In the uncertain world in which we live, everything, but absolutely everything is possible”, is the message George Weah transmitted to the citizens of Liberia.
