Man City only has two days to prepare for EPL’s sixth week. Luckily, they played host role in this match against Watford who fell to the bottom of the standings. The kick off opens Saturday (9/21) at the City of Manchester Stadium.
Thursday (19/9) yesterday The Citizens left for Ukraine to challenge Shakhtar Donetsk. They won 0-3 in this match through the actions of Riyad Mahrez (24 ‘), Ilkay Gundogan (38’), and Gabriel Jesus (76 ‘). In addition to getting the perfect start at UCL, the victory was also a positive response after five days earlier receiving a shock defeat at home to Norwich City.
The opportunity to play as a host would be a breath of fresh air in the middle of a tight schedule. They have played that role twice in the EPL with a score of 2-2 and 4-0 against Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion.
Watford should also be an easy opponent as one of the last two participants who have yet to reap victory. Finally, they were held to a 2-2 draw by Arsenal on Sunday (9/15) yesterday.
Last year the two sides met at the top of the FA Cup which Man City won with a landslide score, 6-0. This fact should make them more motivated, especially if they are currently 5 points behind Liverpool at the top. In other words, the host should be able to win even with such short breaks.
