Independiente del Valle vs Univ Catolica
For the first time in history, Independiente del Valle will compete with Universidad Catolica. That opportunity arrived from the second round drawing of the Copa Sudamericana. The first leg will be held at the Atahualpa Olympics Estadio on Friday (24/5).
The host first completed his obligations in the Ecuador League stage and managed to win 1-0 over El Nacional last Saturday (18/5). Independiente del Valle did perform better with 62% possession and 3 shots on target which was only replied once by the visitor.
Meanwhile, Universidad Catolica appeared more convincing with a landslide victory over Antofagasta in the Chilean League; the score drew 1-1 closing the first half, but the hosts managed to add 4 more goals using Eduard Bello’s red card on 75 minutes.
Despite this euphoria, the Universidad Catolica is still overshadowed by a poor record in away matches where they have only won 1 time at Cobresal headquarters after drawing a draw with Rosario Central, then losing a row from O’Higgins and Gremio.
On the other hand, last weekend’s party helped Independiente del Valle to claim 5 consecutive home wins since beating Emelec. With achievements like this, it’s not wrong if they are favored to come out as winners of tomorrow’s match.
Our Prediction: Over 2.5
Odds: 1.54
