Crvena Zvezda vs Olympiakos Piraeus
The second match of the UEFA Champions League match day from group B also presented a match between Crvena Zvezda against Olympiakos Piraeus, which will be held at the Rajko Mitić Stadium (Belgrade). Interestingly this is not the first meeting for them because head to head record has met 3 times in 2007, 2011 and 2012. They drew 1 time and 2 matches won by Olympiakos Piraeus.
But of course it has been almost a decade since the meeting could not be considered. Apart from their meeting Crvena Zvezda on the first match day must acknowledge the might of Bayern Munich with a landslide collapse at the Allianz Arena 3 goals without reply. Unfortunately again the bad results actually continued when the rival Partizan Belgrade met with a 2-0 defeat. But Crvena Zvezda seems to have begun to rise after defeating Voždovac 1-3 and Mačva Šabac 3-1 in the Serbian Superliga.
Then turning to the stronghold of the Olympiakos Piraeus team who performed surprisingly on the first match day, they hosted last season’s Champions League finalists Tottenham Hotspur. In that match Olympiakos Piraeus had left behind 0-2 first through goals from H. Kane and Lucas Moura then were able to equalize thanks to goals from Daniel Podence and M. Valbuena (PG). Looks like Olympiakos Piraeus can be an obstacle for Tottenham Hotspur and also Bayern Munich.
During yesterday’s Champions League qualification Crvena Zvezda was unbeaten while at home by picking 2 wins over Suduva and HJK Helsinki and then drew with FC Copenhagen and Young Boys. But pulling him in the stronghold of Olympiakos Piraeus they were also strong at home had a draw with Viktoria Plzen then defeated Istanbul Buyuksehir and also FC Krasnodar. Seeing the visitors who are also strong away and balanced with Tottenham Hotspur it seems the quality of Olympiakos Piraeus is better. Most likely Crvena Zvezda will be defeated.
