Cittadella vs Verona
The Serie B promotion playoff final will bring Cittadella to Hellas Verona, where for the first leg Cittadella will be the host. This match will be held at the Pier Cesare Tombolato Stadium.
For Cittadella, this is their closest and greatest opportunity for the first time to rise to the highest caste, Serie A. The team which was founded in 1973 started its step from the lowest castes. In fact, in the 2015/2016 season, the team currently guided by Roberto Venturato is still competing in the third caste, Lega Pro.
This season, Cittadella finished 7th in the Serie B final standings. Collecting 51 points from 36 matches, Cittadella is entitled to take part in the promotion playoff. In the semifinals, Cittadella managed to step over Benevento which was actually more favored. Cittadella managed to advance after a 4-2 aggregate lead over the team who finished third in the final standings of the Serie B.
Hellas Verona will be the last obstacle for Cittadella to realize their dream of breaking into Serie A for the first time. This match is clearly not going to be easy considering Hellas Verona has a considerable experience in this round considering Hellas Verona has repeatedly gone up and down Serie A – Serie B. However, if it is able to achieve positive results in the first leg then Cittadella’s chances will be even greater for promotion to Serie A.
