Armenia vs Italy
Armenia will play match day 5 of EURO 2020 qualification against the leaders of Group J, Italy. It is planned that the two national teams will meet on Thursday (5/09) at the Vazgen Sargsyan Stadium.
So far Armenia has performed quite well with a collection of 6 points and landed at number 3. Finally, they managed to win dramatically with a score of 2-3 when appearing at the Greek headquarters last June. They performed very effectively in this match with 6 shots on target from 25% possession, while the hosts responded 11 times.
On the other hand, Italy was the last participant in Group J to win perfect points to this day. In the last match, they acted as host with a 2-1 position over Bosnia and Herzegovina. GLI Azzurri is indeed more worthy of winning with 65% possession and 8 shots on target, while Edin Dzeko et al only replied 3 times.
Tomorrow’s match will be the third meeting after Armenia and Italy meet in the 2012 World Cup qualifiers. Italy won 1-3 when they played in Armenia, but were held to a 2-2 draw while playing at home.
Italy itself has only appeared once in this competition and managed to bring the score 0-3 from the Greek headquarters, while Armenia has twice held matches with a 0-2 defeat against Finland, then rose 3-0 against Liechtenstein.
Italy also began to advance alone at the top of the standings by a difference of three points from Finland in second place. However, there is no reason not to reap the perfect numbers in this match because the qualifying round is still long. Giorgio Chiellini is certain to be lost to injury, but Italy still has Leonardo Bonucci and Alessio Romagnoli, while the front lines will be led by Andrea Bellotti and Ciro Immobile who appear impressive in Serie A. On the Armenian side, they will again rely on Aleksandr Karapetyan who scored yesterday against Greece, assisted by Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the second line.
Roberto Mancini’s troops showed no signs of decline and they must maintain the trend. Armenia on paper is a fairly easy opponent, but the shock they created in Greece must be a record for Italy. In essence, Italy can win if it does not underestimate the host.
