Celtic FC vs Nomme Kalju
Celtic will host Estonian representatives, Nomme Kalju in the second round of the Champions League Qualification. This first leg Celtic will first act as host.
On paper, this match could have been won by Celtic. Even Celtic is predicted to be able to do it easily given the difference between their quality and the opponent. Moreover, for this first leg Celtic will appear in public alone which makes their chances of winning even greater.
Celtic and Nomme Kalju both started their steps towards the Champions League this season since the first half. In the previous round Celtic managed to win convincingly over Sarajevo with an aggregate 5-2. While Nomme Kalju, they can dramatically get past Shkendija. Nomme Kalju lost 1-0 at home in the first leg but managed to get up with a 2-1 victory at Shkendija’s headquarters. Nomme Kalju also escaped thanks to the aggressiveness of away goals.
Celtic clearly eyeing even a big enough victory in the first leg to ease their steps in the second leg later. Celtic’s ambition was quite large considering last season they failed to penetrate the Champions League. Facing Nomme Kalju at Celtic Park, Celtic’s chances were very open to winning but Celtic also had to be wary of the strength of the Estonian team.
