Derby County vs Aston Villa
Records in league competitions this season made Aston Villa very optimistic ahead of the Championship Division final play-offs against Derby County. They will face off at Wembley Stadium on Monday (27/5).
In the semifinal yesterday Aston Villa met with WBA; they won 2-1 in the first leg, but lost 1-0 in the second leg so that the match continued to the penalty shootout which certainly drained the players’ physical and mental strength.
On the other hand, Derby County managed to advance smoothly a score of 2-4 at Leeds headquarters Utd, although had lost 0-1 in the first leg at home. Too bad Scott Malone was banned from tomorrow’s match due to receiving a red card before dispersal.
Slightly backwards, Aston Villa has the right to take part in the play-off phase after yesterday’s league competition landed in fifth place, followed by Derby County below by 2 points.
Despite the thin distance, Aston Villa won two Derby County meetings this season with a landslide score of 0-3 as the visitors 4-0 as hosts. Note this is what makes them more favored in tomorrow’s match, even though this time they met at a neutral place.
